Although the evenings are drawing in, we are still enjoying some gorgeous warm and sunny weather. Let’s hope this continues for a week or two!
Despite this, in the shop, we like to plan ahead and Tracey, our weekly manager, has been busy making warming soups in several different flavours. Nothing in the fridge for lunch? You can buy a fresh, home-made soup (at least “made in the shop”) for a mere £3.00. Alternatively, join us for lunch and enjoy a bowl with a roll and butter for £5.00.
We have many willing volunteers who come in to help us for shifts of a few hours, some every week and some who are flexible volunteers, stepping in to help when asked to cover. Do you have any time to spare? Have you been wondering how to contact us to do so? Email: manager@ewelmevillagestore.co.uk or phone: 01491 834467. Do speak to anyone behind the counter to ask for details and a member of the committee will contact you about training. It’s easy to shadow someone already working here for a few weeks to get the hang of it. It’s very sociable and you will be putting something back into the community.
Here is a photograph of Fiona Smith, who has recently volunteered and is learning by shadowing me and Andy on a Thursday afternoon. She lives in Wallingford and we are so grateful that she has decided to give us tome time. We are sure she will be a real asset to the store!
Other news, there is a new toastie machine in the kitchen which makes delicious toasted sandwiches in a jiffy. Come in and see what varieties we have! Halloumi, rocket and sweet chilli sauce is a personal favourite.
We look forward to welcoming you, for all your needs, over a warming bowl of soup, maybe!
Sue Evans
