After seemingly unceasing downpours of rain, we finally seem to have entered sunny Spring and how welcome it is. Our thoughts are turning to Easter weekend when many of us will be meeting up with family and friends. Ewelme Village Store has all your needs and more!
We have been very lucky to have Jacob Rea back as our Saturday manager until he goes to Camp America at the beginning of June. Consequently, we will have a vacancy starting in June. If you, or someone you know, is 18 or over, and would like to work in Ewelme Store on a Saturday, please contact Sarah srhmaine@aol.com.
This Friday (Good Friday), we will be taking delivery once more of the Wildfrog Bakehouse sourdough breads and Cinnamon Rolls. Please phone the shop (01491 834467) to order or turn up early on the day to bag one (or three..). We will have Ale & Malt and White Seeded Sourdoughs and the Sea Salt and Olive Oil Foccacia.
Never forgetting the home-made cutting cakes, loaf cakes, fruit and cheese scones, all lovingly baked by Tracey, our Monday to Friday Store Manager. Tracey is often to be found beavering away in the kitchen making all of the above as well as scrummy soups, filled rolls etc. We are so grateful to her (my tummy certainly is..)for the hard work and skill she displays. Don’t forget to show your appreciation to her next time you’re tucking into her Lemon Drizzle! If you’d like to order a cake, get in touch with the shop. Did you know we can also organise light buffet lunches for any social event such as a meeting, wake, ladies who lunch (and men, of course!) just get in touch!
We have recently taken delivery of some new cards, painted by local artist Sarah Pyne, one of the Cloisters and one of the Church. Another local artist known to many of us, Tricia Scott, has turned two of her beautiful paintings of local views, into postcards. We’re sure they’ll be very popular!
And don’t forget you can still do your dry cleaning through Ewelme Store. Ask in store for details.
We have the following important changes to announce:
With effect from 3 April, we will no longer offer a parcel collection service from Ewelme Store nor will we be able to weigh and print labels for parcels.. This service was costing us £1,000pa which is no longer sustainable given the many different ways that we can now send a parcel.
We will continue to sell the following stamps;
1st class standard up to 100g £1.10
2nd class standard up to 100g £0.75
1st class large up to 100g £1.60
2nd class large up to 100g £1.15
Stamps for any standard international letter/card up to 100g £2.20
We hope that you all had a lovely Easter!
